well if it helps 007 mysteriously was half the price under ZAR that it was in Dollars / Euros otherwise yes
we all knew about Amazon and how they go about this is just one of their stages they apparently did the same thing in Japan start slow then start becoming lower and lower till the competition cant keep up.
Sadly they had capital advantage to do this.
Time will tell.

BUT always compare total cost cuase their J5creates are all about R500 more than me (the ones i checked)

im totally guessing here , when there was free delivery i ordered fairly often and i stopped when they began charging so i SUSPECT they give CERTAIN users free delivery

they used to do COD for some clients as well.
cant speak for takealot on this.
amazon wise i think if you have prime you get this benifit

Amazon made some agreement with courier guy while back not sure how cause ive had it where order on saturday get it on sunday.. like dude for real.
but hey let them burn that US dollar away

sometimes i would order from amazon and have the option to pay an extra R1 for same day delivery

I'd rather he explain why we don't get all the cool stuff they sell on the amazon us market place (or the pricing for that matter).

So the reason why Amazon co.za differs and cost wise is mostly cause its operating in SA and basically gets everything from local distributions. some of which is lower than what some of us can get cause of pre made agreements or pushing higher volumes. I have this now and then depending what is pushing out fast enough. i.e inverters in 2023 got better pricing at some point.
but dont look at the US pricing especially for home appliances, USA buys larger MUCH Larger bulks and can negotiate that cost pricing from Asia better cause they push the volume. Remember SA has what 50million people but something like 10% maybe 20% consumers buying electronics, vs america 330million people with maybe 50-60% consumers buying electronics.
The numbers arent facts but they there somewhere. Europe has the same as a whole. They pay cheaper for tech but we pay cheaper for food (even tho it taste better here)
There is also import cost and taxes but the shipments from Asia to SA is quiet expensive in general so its lack of buying power and logitics is why we all pay x amount on stuff
If amazon actually links their global logistics to the co.za then sure youd pay those prices but it would come in as a grey import so if lets say its Samsung phone, samsung south africa wont touch it youd have to send it back to amazon only unless better global agreement with the vendors are made.
its no different from ordering via amazon.com on its own. just you limited to what you can ship to you.
Dont know if its the same story if you were in France and you ordered something from the states sure import cost probably.
