Much truth there, but let's not forget the theft and "favours" to external contractors by breaking their own equipment. And that was the bulk of the problem, plus doubt it's been eliminated either.
 
Municipality should sell those transformers to Eskom. They seem to be able to fix it.

But load reduction is bad mkay it's like load shedding. Plus when it's most of the people not paying. Cutting illegal connections ends up being a full time job.
Remember the government is scared of the cops, so much so they barely use them to uphold silly things like law

ye, like I sad. Its one of many reasons.

Though - since Eskom pushed back on the municipalities and threatened to cut them off - we have had little to none load shedding. So by hook or crook, its been effective in load reduction.

I believe they did at one point. I can't recall if they do now or not.

There were certainly areas in Cape Town where they did. Then they got the police involved and came in and cleared the connections out, secured infrastructure.

Either way it's not loadshedding. It's a different, far more localised problem, with entirely different solutions needed.

Still a top management, and an attitude problem. Nothing is going to come right until the thieves (and all their cadres) are removed from power.

Not really one of the factors. The massive growing debt from municipalities is a relatively new thing.

The real debt and spiral Eskom ran into where it ended up approaching half a trillion in debt was leading up to, and during, the construction of Kusile and Medupi. Costs ballooned and Eskom also started paying tens of thousands for a single broom or roll of toilet paper.

Next to that municipal debt was a drop in the ocean.

Different management too.

It's a municipal mismanagement problem, not a corruption and mismanagement at Eskom problem.

It only looks similar if you look very very surface level.
