If this all goes through, the World Cup as we know it is dead without UEFA. I don't see it making anywhere near the money they are hoping for without major European nations and the European market.

Its a money grab. Any way you look at it. Fifa will never have world cup without uefa. There will be a "compromise". I. E. The infant and his cronies get new lambos.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed receipt of official correspondence from FIFA regarding a major commercial proposal put forward by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.


CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe is set to chair an Executive Committee meeting next week to evaluate the proposal, dubbed the “FIFA Forward Enterprise” initiative. CAF has urged its member associations to study the document carefully and actively participate in upcoming discussions.


The initiative aims to boost global football revenues by selling a portion of FIFA’s event commercial rights to private equity investors. According to FIFA, the plan would inject over $10 billion into the sport, guaranteeing each member association $40 million over the next four years.

Caf president Patrice Motsepe lauded Infantino for his "excellent work" after this year's World Cup and hailed the Swiss as "a good friend".

"He is loyal to Africa," Motsepe said on 22 July. "When people have been loyal to you, you never stab them in the back."

We are fully confident that the outcomes of today's meeting will strengthen FIFA's governance, help restore confidence in the organisation and enable us to prepare for the major events and challenges ahead in a united and transparent manner while continuing our mission to develop the game around the world.

In this context, we acknowledge mistakes were made in the process of the proposed establishment of FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). It was certainly not the intention for the FIFA Council and FIFA Member Associations to feel excluded from the process and it should have been handled differently. With the project withdrawn, FIFA will no longer tolerate any attacks on its integrity, good governance and due process and will take all necessary measures to protect and safeguard its name and reputation.

There are always lessons to be learned, and we will continue to improve our processes in light of this experience. In this instance, however, it is important to stress that, although mistakes were made, everything that was done, was done in full compliance with the FIFA regulatory framework.

UEFA has refused to back down in its explosive stand-off with FIFA, despite a public apology from Gianni Infantino. European football's governing body maintains that its member nations could still boycott the World Cup and other major tournaments following the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprises privatisation plot.

Despite the attempt to bury the hatchet, UEFA members said on Thursday that their conditions for returning to the fold have not been satisfied. "UEFA's associations were very clear about the conditions attached to the non-participation in FIFA competitions," UEFA said in a statement, as per BBC. "First, the proposals to sell off the major competitions had to be withdrawn and secondly, assurances have to be made that such attempts to disfigure the game in this way will never be made again."

The statement continued by highlighting a total breakdown in diplomatic relations: "These conditions have not been met. In addition, UEFA made it abundantly clear in its statement on Saturday that it has lost confidence in Gianni Infantino's presidency. That position holds."

Africa backs Infantino as CAF unanimously votes in FIFA president’s favour​


The Confederation of African Football’s Executive Committee has unanimously confirmed its support for beleaguered FIFA president Gianni Infantino, at odds with ⁠its counterparts in Europe, North America and Asia.

On the day UEFA said it is committed to boycotting future World Cups at all levels while Infantino remains in office, CAF’s top decision-making body late on Thursday sided with the ⁠FIFA president as he seeks re-election in March next year.

CAF makes up 54 of FIFA’s 211 member associations, and is a powerful voting bloc that has largely supported Infantino since he took office in 2016.

“The CAF EXCO unanimously reconfirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and thanked him for his support for African football over ‌the years,” CAF said in a statement.
