There is no need for government to interfere with data prices or bundle expiry rules in South Africa, as consumers can already buy mobile data bundles that roll over for at least 12 months.

One example of this is MTN Pi, which launched earlier this year. Officially, it offers mobile data that will roll over for up to 12 months. However, the Pi app lists these bundles as having no expiry.

Nonsense, the Providers have been exploiting the system for years, time for laws to be enforced and operators to be forced to comply with them.

As I went through the article and saw more caveats and provisos for something which should be conceptually straightforward like a 5GB bundle, I'm now more in favour of ICASA forcing through a simple baseline.
