Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Some snow on the mountains above Franschhoek, if Instagram reels are to be believed.

I was just checking the SAEON Dwarsberg data, and the temperature is below 2C at 1200m elevation, so light snow is likely.

Also just heard on SABC news that the Swartberg Pass north of Oudtshoorn is closed due to snow. It's a gravel road, so best avoided in bad weather.

Plenty more is likely to fall further east over the next two days (Mon 10th and Tues 11th).

You can feel that, it’s gone from relatively mild to full winter iciness now, not a happy camper right now.
Out comes the heater which have been virtually untouched this whole winter unlike most years.

The SAWS reports fairly heavy rain places along the southern and Eastern Cape coast and adjacent mountains during the 24 hours to 8am on Mon 10th. Highest include Port Edward (KZN) 54mm, George (Witfontein) 44mm, Heidelberg 38mm, Plettenberg Bay 38mm, Knysna 37mm, Port St Johns (EC) 28mm, Coffee Bay (EC) 32mm, East London 28mm, Port Alfred (EC) 28mm, Cape St Francis (EC) 25mm, etc. By contrast Franschhoek received only 18mm.

And once again I'm left contemplating my life choices. I woke up this morning and decided to go to work!! In my defense, it was still dark.

The wind is still biting cold today (Tues 11th) and I wouldn't want to be up any mountains. Wait until Thursday, when CT should be back in the low 20s, with offshore berg winds.

Is the problem with those berg winds not going to be bringing cold air this time?

The cold I don't mind so much, it's when you add the wet stuff that I hide away.
