I don't know about anti-science but the thread is about maths and not evolution which is what I think you're getting at with anti-science.

US public high-school education is largely a joke. Also during the woke craziness of the BLM and Covid eras, many universities in the US got rid of entrance tests because it was considered to be racist or some other woke bollocks. Many institutions have now reverted to requiring entrance tests. Not sure if UC-Berkeley is one of them.

People who believe the world is 6000 years old have a poor grasp of mathematics.

This I don't get. Because the 6,000 years thing is not based on mathematics. Because you with your 4.5 billion years old understanding and they with their 6,000 year understanding did not arrive at this because you both used advanced calculus and algebra to work this out.

It's not like they take different inputs and use faulty math and get the 6000 and you take inputs and get 4.5 bn. It's not like any school kid works this out in high school.

So your way of thinking is so bizarre to me, I don't know.

What also disproves your hypothesis is that as the US has become LESS in the Young Earth Creationist camp with the belief being stronger 50 years ago than now, the US has deteriorated in maths.

You think the kids who did not have access to calculators but had to work out things from tables, maybe abacuses and written calculations were worse at maths than modern kids who can use tablets, apps and calculators/AI?

Anyway dude, I'm just fascinated how you link all this together. As said you're welcome to your opinion.

This is pretty easy to explain. It's a club/cult and you need to have ALL the correct options of the cult, even those that are irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Some random thing like this is a easy test to see if you are in the science cult. It is also a very low bar generally accepted "fact" so it is used as an attempt to ridicule the other person and just win the argument. Because if you don't agree with evolution you are a religious nutter and hold absolutely no other opinion that is valid.

Am sure if you had an alternative explanation for evolution that was backed up with evidence and was coherent people would be more than willing to listen to your theory. The problem is that most people who don't agree with evolution usually fall back on "God did it, my bible says so". Which is generally when they lose most people.

This is all completely irrelevant to the fact that some unqualified fraud got hired in a top position at a university and when he got exposed he offed himself.

The idea that young earth creationist exists somewhere has nothing to do with this topic and is deflection.

If you want my opinion go start another threat and tag me. Maybe I'll participate if I have time.
