the TDLR is do not load a Visa card in the transit card slot in the wallet. Otherwise you are ok

So earlier in the AM I was at a Hungry Lion in a less affluent area of CT, paid with my Watch. A proper CC lady behind was lost for words seeing this, telling her friends she was with. Made convo with her, super friendly.
Then later on I was at a Die Visfabriek, paid with said Watch, super old lady behind me sees this & can't believe her eyes, asked me questions, how it all works etc. I have no issue talking to strangers so welcomed the convo x2.
So yeah I would say a fair a number of people have still not seen a Watch payment in the wild.

That article is a bit misleading, they weren't overtly blocking Apple Pay but rather all forms of tap to pay no matter whether that was Apple Pay, a bank card or Google Pay.Walmart is finally launching Apple Pay support next week - 9to5Mac

"Walmart is adding broad contactless payment support, so that includes Apple Pay on iPhone and Apple Watch, Google Pay, contactless cards, and other payment platforms. Shoppers will also be able to add their Walmart and Sam’s Club cards to Apple Wallet and other platforms. Contactless support will exist alongside existing payment methods, including Walmart Pay."
No, I’ve been to Walmart and Sam’s Club 13 times so far this month. I doubt it would have been any more, or less, times had tap to pay been available.
I hope for their sake all their current payment terminals are already NFC ready and don’t require upgrading.

They probably have the weirdest and most backward banking system in the modern world.
Apparently interbank electronic transfers are often difficult if not impossible between some banks, nevermind an instant payment, so to facilitate that people have to use third party providers like Cash App/Zelle/Venmo

I'm always amused at how everyone still uses cheques (or is it checks). I used to chuckle at the ads for the banking apps showing how you can deposit cheques by scanning them with their phones. A modern solution to an antiquated behaviour.
