I didn’t weigh in on this for plenty of reasons. As far as my own opinion goes, I think they successfully executed the brief.

If there are any criticisms, I do think that the leading aircraft were overly aggressive, and that the chase had to go blind as a result. The fact that the trail aircraft got a spray of fireworks in the face will speak to that. In commercial practice there are clear and strict mandates.

Regardless, this flyover went by without incident. For that part, the pilots deserve applause, but within a technical and legal framework I don’t think this will go unpenalised for some involved. Time will tell.

The global public's opinion, though, is quite something to witness.
