I didn't post it for a rugby discussions but as a reference for a 12m planned altitude.

All of the online discussions never mentioned the teraim around the stadium, that those pilots fly one the top ten busiest routes in world, and fly to St Helena so their flight experience may differ massively. . All we can hope for is that the planners and pilots did discuss this properly inside their framework and will discuss it again for the next fly by using the lessons learned as inputs. For all we know they are Bush war Bucanneer and Impala pilots.

I initially though they planned an higher flyby but where still inside their tolerances and decide early to hold the line instead of aborting or continously adjusting which has its own risks.

Black-box data can provide detailed information about an aircraft’s flight, including its altitude, speed and heading.

“While Airlink appreciates the interest and concern, it will refrain from making any further comments while the SACAA reviews the flight data,” Birns added.

Note the white smoke fired 3 minutes before, to show likely an observer with radio contact that the air over the stadium is absolutely still, so the final approach, which needs still air, can be safely done, as there is no air currents that can disrupt the flight. If that smoke had been blown away that flyover likely would have been done at a much higher altitude, and note from the perspective you can see that this entire flyby was done while actively climbing, so full power, high lift engaged, and with more than enough control authority for the flight. It looks close because you are looking down, from a distance, and zoomed in.

Erm... considering Cape Town had a forecasted precipitation 30% last Saturday and this Saturday in Joburg is 25% the likelihood is that someone in legal pointed out that they need any excuse other than admitting that there might be something irregular about the last flyover hence @Gordon_R's explanation is quite possible rather than weather related...

I'm thinking Airlink is going to give us a great show, lets hope so

I don't think they are the type of company to be dissuade by the mild rumblings of the unqualified opinions in the press.
