Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

though I must be hallucinating earlier in the Morning, sunny skies, tiny bit of cloud,
tiny bit of cold, and then as if on queue around 12 it starts raining, but not very much

maybe your weather down here runs on daylight savings time?
or even the weather people severely miscalculated the weather.

That seems a little extreme!? I wasn't aware of any weather stations on Lion's Head, given that it is in the middle of a National Park. Where exactly did this information come from?

By contrast the SAEON Dwarsberg mountain station reports strong (but not extraordinary) winds. Never mind, that site is offline/data not up to date...

did the saeon constantiaberg site ever get repaired?

Sounds about right
 
For the record, the wind speeds at CT airport are not particularly strong at 20kts (35km/h), but other locations are experiencing stronger gusts. De Aar in the central Karoo is reporting gusts of 52kts (96km/h!) Yr.no shows steady wind speeds of 17m/s (60km/h) for De Aar this morning.

From friend, probably not wise to trust those messages.
 
The wind was wild last night. We were probably in the pocket were it hit the hardest but the windows were shaking from the blast.
I can believe that the gusts were 160km\h+, it certainly felt like it.

Rather unlikely. What was unusual last night was the turbulence, which is what makes windows rattle. Steady strong winds do not have the same effect. The NW wind has the same effects downwind of Table Mt in winter, when vortices are induced by terrain.

Yes, its the gust that was off the hook. Loads of turbulence.

I should get my own little home weather station setup to monitor.. I do find these things interesting.
