The "The Grand Tour" Thread

Season dropped and I grabbed it quickly this morning.

Deleted the whole thing after a few minutes.

Watched the first episode, it's okay, not great. It's missing that chemistry, electricity that CLA, HAM and MAY had, almost like a repeat of Top Gear; it works okay-ish but not really. But it's only the first episode

I'm quite deep into episode 1 now and loving it. It's not the old three, but it's fantastic car content ... show me another lifestyle car show which ticks these same boxes. Beautiful videography, stunning cars, some big star power, cheesy jokes ... yes please.

I need to get the original trio out of my head; this is a new bunch, a NEW show. Starting to like it

Oh man, the end of episode 1 is absolutely epic! I was so jealous of those guys getting to do something like that. If the mission was starting off with a bang, they nailed that.
 
Finished the first episode

Honestly, not totally crap when compared to the first episode of the “reborn “ top gear

The mix of the new presenters, I like they have a good vibe going

That said, something really sticks out ( for me at least) is that even with the old cast , common denominator now is Andy Wilman ..

grand tour is very much a 60/40 split , 60% production , 40% cast

Anyway, that’s my 5c

Will watch episode 2 a bit later , see if it gets better
 
New Grand Tour with the new threesome done & dusted.

I count myself fortune that I have the ability to watch a show, all 6 episodes in this instance, & form my own opinions.

I had some doubts when these new hosts were announced. I'm very familiar with James & Thomas from Throttle House for yonks & have been linking their content on this forum for years but taking on the illusive Grand Tour? Once I actually watched it all, colour me impressed, properly.

My short take? It was great, seriously, a surprisingly good watch. I had some doubt walking into it but it delivered in entertainment, laughs & thrills.

To my surprise even the "train guy" Francis fell into the role & felt like a natural fit to the other two.

It just got better as it progressed along, at least 4 of the 6 episodes absolutely ticked the brief for a high quality GT episode.

I mean we even got cameos from the OG's.

My fav 3 epi's:

- Epi 4, Last Car Standing.
- Epi 3, It's OK to be Kei
- Epi 6, Angola: Survive to Drive

A recommend watch.

PS: I will be keeping my "pirated" copies for my archive, I enjoyed it that much.

PPS: I'm 100% onboard for the next season with them.
