Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

The Runner (2026) 5.5/10

Tedious real-time action thriller set in London. A large part of the script is Gal Gadot running & lots of flashes of her hol in spandex, will never complain about that. ;)

We have the token GG clunky line delivery.

How this woman managed to be in top Hollywood movies is beyond me. Very poor actress. Oh yes, 'cause she is easy on the eye.

It Ends (2025) - 4/10. Story about 4 people in a car stuck in a time/area loop. Could have been great with lots of potential but sadly it peters out into a damp squib. I bet the Japanese/Koreans could make a better version.

"The Lululemon Movie"

Spider Island - 6/10. Like Piranha and as Snakes on a Plane, doesn't pretend to be anything else but b grade schlock. Good Spider effects.

The Runner - 2/10. One for each butt cheek. Opening scene has Gadot chasing and winning against a male runner in the park. Really??!! Switched off after this.

28 Days Later (2002)

I have no idea how I missed this movie. I watched the Blu-Ray version and was not impressed by the picture quality. I loved the dressing nature of this story and I prefer the hospital ending. Test audiences are useless twats. 7/10

I really liked that bit where he's wandering around a deserted London...it was all done practically, shooting before dawn and with specific closures of like a minute or two at a time for the major landmarks. Very cool.

The Running man (2025) 5/10

Chose it as a popcorn movie. The first half of the movie was pretty entertaining, then it became a convoluted mess in the 2nd half.

Seriously, wtf happened to the second half of the movie. Pacing was terrible, writing poor, and the action was boring.

The Weight (2026) - 7.5/10. Has some Shawshank Redemption DNA with Crowe and especially Hawk in top gear with some riveting set pieces.

Mayday (2026) - 6.5/10. Familiar and faily entertaining nifty camera work but ultimately forgettable

The Mongoose (2026) 6.5/10

Liam Neeson's latest action thriller delivers the goods ito thrills & suspense. Paper thin plot & even more thin characters (looking at you Michael Chiklis). Leave your mind at the door & enjoy. Oh & throw your suspension of disbelief book in the bin. At times it gives full on Ford Performance promo vid vibes.

Toy Storry 5
7/10

One of the better recent animations. A little bit of randomness in the story writing, but I mean, it is the 5th one, they should really consider ending it. This one wasMore like a message to the parents. The voices felt a bit weird, not sure why. Maybe age starting to show in the voice acting. They sounded tired. But characters were cute and the story was okay. Worth a watch as a family. A bit on the slow side but nice for a Sunday afternoon on a rainy day.
