DStv's recent overhaul of its package structure in South Africa is something that has been in the works for years, and which MultiChoice said it would have rolled out sooner if it could have.

This is not so different from what it has always been? If you want the good stuff, pay for premium. If you want it with a decoder, pay more. The R399 "sport" pack is what they have been having at the Spur and in hospitals, just renamed it. What is actually better now?

The R 799 premium package on the decoder for 24 months is not so bad.

1. MC claiming these changes were coming anyway, delayed due to the Canal+ takeover.
Not sure I believe that given how long they've been "considering it", but possible of course.

The year is 2035, and Dstv have finally launched a sports only package, with international rugby included, for R1500 pm. Their 6 remaining customers are apparently delighted.
