Department of Transport allegedly spent R15 million to stream on YouTube

The lols never stop when it comes to government...

A senior official of the Department of Transport alleged that it spent up to R15 million over several years on livestreaming services, usually for audiences of around 100 people on YouTube.

Streaming what exactly?

Did they take out subs for peeps or where they streaming some of their kak on YT?

They paid some media company to organise the camera setup to be able to facilitate the streaming.
Each time the contract was made just below R1 bar so as to not trigger needing to send it out for tender.

I mean once you factor in the wardrobe, expensive cars, filming gear, food, entertainment and all of that with kick-backs so marked up by 90000% I guess it starts to make sense.

I don't know why the government can't use the SABC to conduct such services. Not even tender (or supplier in these terms) related; I know what some agencies charge.

Intentionally manipulating the process to avoid triggering oversight is in and of itself a crime and shows intent, and that active measures to avoid detection were taken.

Sheesh obs and a decent internet connection, then whatever you film with. Its really easy to stream these days..... now having attractive content, differant story.
