Record high petrol prices or pay higher taxes – Godongwana says you must pick one

He noted that reducing poverty and tackling the high cost of living are part of the government’s Medium-Term Development Plan 2024–2029.

Some plan this has been as we are at about the midway point and the cost of living has been spiraling upwards.

Can't wait for the usual brigade that go, they always raise petrol prices in December to pop up.
It's hitting over 100 dollars now, each day those muppets carry on shooting at each other and destabilizing everything the higher it will go, then we gonna to start running into supply issues.

Never ending story :(

I know, it's like freaking hell you're not only effecting yourself you orange haired muppet.

False choice as usual. They can drop the 25% tariff for electric vehicles tomorrow. That takes the cost of an entry level EV to the R250k range. This can apply to trucks and taxis as well.

And it's not like Eskom cannot deal with the demand. If anything they would be very happy with lots of people plugging in their cars at night

They've been burning tax revenue on keeping prices "low" - ie, pulling the usual cANCer BS of burning the future for short term optics.

Must have run out of future to burn.

I choose taxes, VAT specifically, no more stealth tax, grow a pair and make the ENTIRE country pay for your failures!

PS: if I'm in the area and it seems safe enough I'd be willing to put out the fire when they come to necklace you Mr Finance Minister

Will people alter their December plans and cancel accommodation if this continues?

Was looking at accommodation around the West Coast, Overberg etc and it seems nearly fully booked.

Was looking at Sanparks, but it is always a huge drive from Cape Town to any decent park.

For once, how about cutting wasteful and unnecessary spending?

Also, stop stealing our money!
