I am not going to ping him for being a pay driver, pay drivers have been a part of the sport since its inception (back in the day they were ''gentleman'' drivers; rich aristocrats and sons of tycoons) and in the modern era nobody is reaching F1 without money behind them or being a nepo baby (check how many sons of ex-drivers are in the junior categories).

There have also been a lot worse pay drivers, but it is fair to say that he would not have got into F1 without money (granted he was a European F3 champion, but he went straight from F3 to F1) and he certainly would not have lasted as long as he has if papa Stroll didn't buy a team.

There is not much you can do with Laguna Seca.

It is much like Zandvoort, in that it used to be a much bigger track that has been cut down in size to fit in with its limited location.

Zandvoort cuts between dunes and is hemmed in between the ocean, a national park and a residential area. It was turned into the squiggly track it is today to accommodate residential developments while developing the track in other sections is limited by is location within a national park and being up against a beachfront.

Laguna Seca itself was a much larger track built on the grounds of a former military base up in the hills. The land then became county land and now forms part of a bigger recreational park. The fact that is already cut into the hills, lays within a wider park area and local residents constantly push back against changes to the track means little can be done to it. Noise restrictions already limit the amount of events that can be held there annually and residents, with local county support, have blocked most proposed modifications because of the impact on the natural surroundings and increased noise pollution they will bring.

Cars are indeed much safer, but in this case HANS would have prevented his death.

He was killed on impact by a basilar skull fracture with no other significant injuries. His survival cell was found to be perfectly intact with no intrusions. These cars were designed for ovals, so by the standards of the time they were tough.

Dumbass track.

This obsession with street circuits and faux street circuits is so irritating, and Spain has already failed once with a street circuit (Valencia).

Should have just gone to Aragon.
