As a good driver, you want to get the best launch from the grid so you don't compromise your teammate behind you, and if you do have a bad start, at least don't hold him up, and certainly don't push him off the road if he scores from your bad start.

Maybe you should go watch the race again. Charles had the best start of the two. And was just planning to go through the chicane right up to those in front so he could be ready to pass at spots where you actually have a chance to pass. Then some idiot decided to dive bomb and compromise both of them.

Charles has literally accepted blame for running Lewis off the track.

And I already posted images from the race, that was no divebomb. Lewis was practically level with him when they hit the braking zone. Lewis also gave him space to make the second part of the chicane.
