The "The Grand Tour" Thread

Just finished the new Grand Tour.

I actually really enjoyed it.

No, it’s not Clarkson, Hammond and May… but it’s not supposed to be. It’s the next generation, and IMO they’ve done it justice.

At least it’s not the forced abomination the BBC tried with Top Gear

Francis… I wasn’t sure at first. He felt a bit awkward, almost like he didn’t quite fit, but as it went on he really started growing on me.

Then episode 5 with the train

Holy ****, watching someone get THAT excited about trains is something else.

“Listen to this symphony. Listen to this symphony.”

“All of these sounds, it’s music! It’s the soundtrack to railway enthusiasm!”

You just can’t fake that level of excitement. Everyone else hears a bloody great diesel engine making a racket, Francis is sitting there having a religious experience

The chemistry obviously isn’t Clarkson/Hammond/May level, but those 3 had decades together. I’d much rather these guys find their own thing than try and force a copy of the old trio.

Went into it expecting it to be a bit meh…

6 episodes later, I want another season.

Strong 8/10 from me

It's ok, not everybody has taste. May I interest you in some Netflix slop instead?

Do me a favour quovadis and at least watch the first four episodes. Come back and tell us if your review has changed. The boys settled into their groove in the later episodes.
