With regards to the military and its relative strength, things change, believe it or not

You probably believe that the Italians should be shoring up their defences at the foot of the Alps in case some chap called Hannibal comes rumbling over the mountains on an elephant.

At least not if everyone has to be subject to the same rules.

What they really want is the legal privilege to be the ones holding the guns.... via their biggest paternalistic ally.(even if in reality it only works for them for 4 to 8 years years at a time).

p.s. In SA they are on a Critical Theory record bonanza, of 32 years straight.... no arguments from the Conservatives either.

I do believe that the Yanks are too relaxed about the gun situation though - perhaps there should be harsher penalties for losing weapons or allowing unauthorised people to access them. That would need to be at federal level to have any real effect.

77% of guns used in mass shootings were legally acquired, 13% illegally and the rest gifted, borrowed, or taken from family members or acquaintances.

Over 80% of adolescent or individual shooters in K-12 school settings stole the guns from family members living in the same home.

The question is why this happening is so much of late, what has changed to make people do this as the guns were always there.

It's not just guns, people deliberately mowing others down with cars is also on the increase.

And that doesn't even include incidents where someone has a little tiff in a parking lot with another individual and then simply thinks it's a good idea to run them over.
