RIP Charlie Kirk

I do, I was asking a rhetorical question so that you would consider how long ago it was.

It's AI, you are welcome to refute the point.
Same question to you, then.....

When did your right to freedom of association expire?

Was it in your life-time? Or before you were born?

It's not about right to freedom, it's about the fact that you think firearms could be any kind of defence against a government that has Tanks and artillery.
In the immortal words of Jordan Petersen ... that's quite a segue.

Do you have a date of its expiry?

If you want to preach your FoA religion, there are other threads for that.

With regards to the military and its relative strength, things change, believe it or not

You probably believe that the Italians should be shoring up their defences at the foot of the Alps in case some chap called Hannibal comes rumbling over the mountains on an elephant.

You heard it here first folks.... your right to choose your friends and associates expired at some point in the past.

The right to freedom of association is too old to still exist.

Cray and Vigras Rojara are just coming up with the exact date of expiry, for us..... while we wait.

:coffee:

Vigras agrees the military industrial complex is running riot cross the globe, with its endless cache of guns.... maiming and killing innocents, including women, children and the elderly.

But worry not, there is no need to threaten to withdraw your support from cold-blooded murderers, with perpetual presumed legal immunity.

😩

Hypocrisy on stilts.

Pinko's really aren't pro-gun control.

At least not if everyone has to be subject to the same rules.

What they really want is the legal privilege to be the ones holding the guns.... via their biggest paternalistic ally.(even if in reality it only works for them for 4 to 8 years years at a time).

p.s. In SA they are on a Critical Theory record bonanza, of 32 years straight.... no arguments from the Conservatives either.

Yeah, I largely agree actually, which is why I brought in the mental health angle. I do believe that the Yanks are too relaxed about the gun situation though - perhaps there should be harsher penalties for losing weapons or allowing unauthorised people to access them. That would need to be at federal level to have any real effect.

77% of guns used in mass shootings were legally acquired, 13% illegally and the rest gifted, borrowed, or taken from family members or acquaintances.

Over 80% of adolescent or individual shooters in K-12 school settings stole the guns from family members living in the same home.

The question is why this happening is so much of late, what has changed to make people do this as the guns were always there.

It's not just guns, people deliberately mowing others down with cars is also on the increase.
The Decade-Long Spike: According to researchers at the University of Nebraska Omaha, 41% of all documented vehicle-ramming incidents at U.S. event venues over the past 50+ years occurred within the last decade. The MTI notes that the U.S. leads Western nations in the sheer number of vehicle rammings since 2012, recording at least 85 distinct attacks. [1] (https://transweb.sjsu.edu/press/New...Pose-Ongoing-Continuing-Risk-New-Report-Warns), [2] (https://digitalcommons.unomaha.edu/ncitereportsresearch/159/)

And that doesn't even include incidents where someone has a little tiff in a parking lot with another individual and then simply thinks it's a good idea to run them over.

There's something not lekka with the people over there.
