South Africans in video games?

Oh snap I was just posting about this as well, missed your post :) I really enjoyed the older Jagged Alliance series.

Pity it died after BiA.
JA2 is pretty much especially with 1.13 the only game of it's type that really does does that kind of game justice..... though I probably won't play through again with all the guns enabled

All other attempts focused too much on graphics or shock value rather than gameplay. BiA was boring in many ways in comparison and the other two..... I never even bothered with Rage.

The same thing happened with DN3D vs DNF.... it's like someone trying to tell a joke while trying to force laughs.

But yeah..... JA2 is truly funny at times in it's utter unashamed B-Movie trashy terribleness.

The villain in titanfall 2 is South African, he is also an announcer in the multiplayer

FYI

Let's hope they don't screw this one up. But there should be a few saffers in it too :)

Is that a game?

It's portrayal of South Africa by others. So it's relevant. This guy does accents and he's only done a handful but the South African one is one of his. He also does Ugandan, Cockney, Polish and Indian.

This thread is not about bickering either, but there you are, put me on ignore, please and go away.
Sensitive.

There are South Africans in movies, series, music, books etc etc. I don't care about that. I created this thread for games, in the gaming forum.

I remember the old Soldier of Fortune game (the 2000 one) had an Afrikaner antagonist.
Although I cant remember if there were any Afrikaans dialect in the game, too long ago for me to remember.

Copied from Wikipedia:

Plot

The story involves the theft of nuclear weapons, and the main enemy turns out to be an Afrikaner neo-fascist group based in Germany, led by South African exile Sergei Dekker.
Recently watched a video where i learnt this. But the accent in the game sounds very German.

Found another South African for the first time in ages.

Frickie van Hardenburg in GTAIV: Ballad of Gay Tony. Terrible name for an Afrikaans ou and should have been Frikkie. He plays a tiny part in the game and you end up killing him by stealling his chopper and blowing up his massive luxury yacht for no reason at all lol. Yet another bad guy. There are no good South Africans in games haha.

Not my video, nsfw I guess:

Found more South Africans in 007 First Light but they are all minor or unnamed characters.

Know of at least 3 in the game. One in the black market pirate city of Aleph. He's the guy whose phone you can hack. His contact is Yolandi and he says things like flippen or blerrie lol.

And then 2 more South Africans at the Vietnam resort. The guy in the purple shirt at 1:13 (he says his mate is having a jol) and then also Jonty:

As literally always, South Africans in video games are of the Afrikaans persuasion every single time for some reason haha.

I mean it’s not really far off the mark.

In my previous life I used to work with some of these types and they are always of this exact persuasion.
