How do you normally pay for purchases in stores?

What are these people doing though that makes it take so long? When you've done it once surely you know where to go.

Aren't these people using loyalty apps maybe? Then you get the people in front at the express checkout who are withdrawing their pensions, waiting for somebody to bring them cigarettes and using 7 different coupons.

Also the FNB eBucks guy paying his printed municipal bill.
 
Tap card, tap smartphone.

I have had incidents where Google Pay didn't work, but I always carry minimal cash as an emergency.
 
Card generally. If my phone dies for some reason, or I drop it etc, I don't feel like being left stranded.

I don't carry a wallet anymore though, just a card holder.

We were 4th.

Clients 1st at the till took 5 minutes after their last scanned items to fully pay using their cellphone.
Tannie third in line stripped her moer and went to that small kiosk, which in turn had 2 people in line, whom were paying by cellphone.

So we became third in line which then resulted in us becoming 2nd in line.
Jasis, oke in front pays with cellphone, 5 minutes for him to pay.

Anyway, we paid by card which took the normal 15-20 seconds.

Passed the tannie that stripped her moer. She was second in line. :ROFL:

Get to Shoprite, needless to say the lines were long and no, it was not payday.

The Checkers Express queue is a myth and exists to enrage you.

Always someone on some bullsh*t holding up the queue, like counting out 1c coins to pay or paying 500 accounts before asking to make a cash withdrawal.

Just fvckoff so I can pay for my bread and get out of here.

Last time I drew cash from an ATM or bank was about 5 years ago. I never had an emergency during this time and I also pay by phone.
 
Takes a second for me to unlock my phone using a finger print whilst the cashier is still getting my stuff ready, wait for the machine, tap and done. It takes longer to take the card out of my wallet. No need to open any apps etc.

only issue is the tiny screen that rejects the pattern and you need to do it a few times to register.

but hey #firstworldproblems.

seen many with cash and always ask myself the question
since that cash is entirely worthless, I mean its only value is based in the Trust we have in a piece of paper anyway,

what difference is there in doing it electronically where its all 1's and zeros's in a system and ledger somewhere.
now scale it up and take away the bank, and we get to crypto being used for literally everything,

makes you wonder if this is going to be the future where we all use crypto and governments cant screw us around by making more money when they get into trouble.

but that's my conspiracy rant for the day I guess.

Huh? It's literally faster than paying by card...and far quicker than paying with cash due to no change required.

The real issue are those ****ing knobs who wait for every item to be scanned and only THEN take out their wallet to figure out how they are going to pay.

Or is this an Android phone and old people issue you are having? Or some QR code stuff because that's not tapping at all.

But I have a strong suspicion your 5 minutes are Microsoft Minutes and not real minutes.
