Similar thing happened to me actually. With the HP battery, because the client needed it urgently we both agreed that accepting the obvious knock-off battery was the best approach.I ordered a Lenovo thinkpad keyboard early this year from them. What I got was a clearly used/2nd hand one.
Sent them an email with pictures of the original one that was in the laptop + the one they shipped. They replaced it with a new one this time, they didn't even collect their "used" one.
It started swelling after 6 months, but SPL does give a 12 month warranty. I took it back expecting a battle, because I absolutely wasn't going to accept another cheap clone battery.
I think they could see the frustration in my eyes, so they came back with a neatly packaged, clearly genuine battery with all of the regulatory info and branding on the package.
After fitting this new battery the client couldn't have been happier with the performance compared to the knock-off even from new.
I was hoping that was the last of it and that they had learned from this, but then I had the experience of sending a Lenovo Laptop in for a keyboard repair.
The "Genuine" part was ordered from SPL and I could clearly see by the font on the keyboard, skew space bar and dim backlight that it was another knock-off part.
I had the original keyboard back to compare, if I didn't it would have been a little less obvious.
