Another very mixed week for CT and SA, with high temperatures at first, an upper trough with thundershowers, and a cutoff low by Fri 25th:

Wow! I know I half-predicted it yesterday, but it's still a surprise to wake up at 4am with pouring rain, and lightning...

Edit: Stepped outside, only to be hit by a wall of hot air!? Where did that come from??

Edit: After looking at the forecasts and charts, I still don't 'see' the storm. I guess that's what weather radar is for...

That lightning was insane, somehow it set off the alarm. Not a sensor/zone but the whole interior partition

Yr.no shows light showers (<1mm) around lunchtime today (12noon and 1pm), but the model forecasts are close to guesswork for this kind of fickle event.

The sudden heat, humidity, haze, and lack of wind are making conditions almost unbearable. I will be happy when things cool down a bit...

With the 'Super el Nino' heading our way, I'm considering getting some air-con installed. Reckon it's going to be scorching for a few months and it's not going to be getting any colder over the years to come.

The medium term forecast has consistently shown a well developed cutoff low on Fri 25th into Sat 26th, though the peak rainfall is likely to be just east of CT. Current outlook up to midnight on Fri 25th:
