Kulula and BA’s Boeing 737 Max 8 planes – “We remain vigilant”

For anyone who hasn't been paying attention in 2024, the BBC has a lengthy summary of the various developments and issues at Boeing:
So, so summary. I did not see anything that I might have missed, but there is plenty that the BBC left out. I get the feeling that the BBC is just playing the "me too" game, trying to keep up with the rest of MSM.

Is Boeing's Latest Problem Actually a GOOD Thing?! - Mentour Now!

Boeing is back in business following the end of strike action that ground production to a halt at the end of 2024. But WHY are they taking so long to get their production lines back to full capacity? And could that actually be a GOOD thing!? Stay tuned!

REVEALED: This System KILLS in 39 Seconds and Nothing is Being DONE! - Mentour Pilot

In today's video, we take a look at two reports that have uncovered a dangerous design flaw that is risking the lives of pilots, passengers and crew.

WHAT is going on? And more importantly, WHAT is being done to prevent future incidents?

The identity of whistle-blowers has been withheld from this video. The FAA and Boeing were contacted for comment.

Another example of a supposedly small hole in the cheese that is being ignored by the authorities and the manufacturers of aircraft. Just waiting for a situation to arise that leads to an avoidable accident. Watched this last night and just sat back and wondered if Boeing and the authorities will ever learn.

I posted more comments about this in the JeJu 737-800 crash thread as well - links here & here.

The LEAP engine is specific to the B737 MAX (and the A320 NEO), so it really has nothing to do with the Jeju 737-800 crash.
Someone posted the Mentour Pilot video in the JeJu 737-800 thread - so I did the courteous thing & answered him there - no need to be so pedantic - pour yourself a G&T and go watch the sunset...

My message to Boeing during our recent visit was one of tough love. Acting Administrator @FAA_Chris and I have made clear that the FAA will continue to cap Boeing’s production of the 737 MAX until they can demonstrate sustainable progress on safety.

Only then can they regain the trust of the American people.

Boeing, Justice Department reach deal to avoid prosecution over deadly 737 Max crashes - CNBC

Boeing and the Justice Department reached a deal that would allow the aircraft maker to avoid prosecution for a fraud charge tied to two 737 Max crashes, which killed 346 people.

Crash victims' family members have repeatedly called for more accountability and for Boeing officials to stand trial over the crashes.

Boeing had a three-year agreement with the Justice Department in the last days of the first Trump administration that shielded it from prosecution from a fraud charge over the Max aircraft's development.

The settlement stinks, but is probably the best that could be expected under the circumstances. A criminal trial would drag on for years, and the financial and reputational damage to Boeing has already done enough IMO. Family members may feel differently though.

Saw this issue covered on Mentour Pilot. I am wondering just how long it is going to take before aircraft manufacturers realise the stupidity of using the engines to feed pressurised air into aircraft. It is just another crazy idea that is long overdue for a complete redesign.

The B787 is the only model that does not use engine bleed air to pressurise the aircraft. That's not exactly a glowing endorsement of the concept. On some models the bleed air only drives a compressor, on others it's partially mixed into the cabin. Both have pros and cons in comfort and efficiency.

Oh man, I was wondering why an old thread was being revived, knowing that most of the Boeing 737 Max 8 dust had settled.
