Makro online marketplace sells fake SSDs in South Africa

Makro Online is the WORST .

Slow deliveries, broken items, clueless staff, crap online portal, no communication the list goes on.

After making the same mistake twice ( ordering from them online) - I decided to NEVER order online again.

"At around 60% cheaper than most listings, it also seemed like it could have just been a great special and not a too-good-to-be-true deal."

I got an original Samsung 990 Pro 2TB for about R6K on Evetech about 2 months ago. Evetech now sells it for R10K and other stores have it for R10K to R13K.

Good deals still do occur.

Makros online is a mess. If I am looking for something a Marko, I want to be able to go into a makro and pick it up. Yet 90% of thier listings are now 3rd party retailers with 0 vetting and long wait times.

Amazon.co.za if I want it online. Thank you.

My dude, that's Evetech, PC parts is what they do, for a part that goes up in price almost daily... and other sites sometimes listing it for 22% more that current Evetech pricing 2 months after your purchase. Not even a remotely applicable comparison.

Yes good deals do still happen... BUT....

R6K vs R13K is not 22%.

Maybe it's not you, maybe it's your calculator.

Good deals still occur. As long as you can return the item for a full refund, it's not the end of the world if you try it out.

At the time I purchased my 2TB, other sites were selling it for R10K to R13K, also.

2 Months ago in this AI manic driven pricing market is a f**ing lifetime.

At the time I purchased my 2TB from Evetech for R6K the price range was R10K to R13K, same as now. I know because I checked around AT THE TIME. :)

So good deals do exist, sweet summer child.

As long as you can refund it, and you have time to spare, you can try.

How do you figure that out of interest?

He took into consideration the CPA and the fact that online you can return the item for a full refund and you have an implied 1 year warranty under the CPA. :) He must have taken that into account, surely.

You're better off buying from the flea market than online.
I wonder if the sellers at the flea market would accept if I were to point out something that's been in stock with them for a few years, if they would sell it to me at the price it was then, massive savings could be had if that's the case.

From memory they often had 2 or 3 generation old GPU's in stock in the back

This review is the best.

Three stars for a drive that "crushes" your PC.
Jirre, I should get this guy to do my performance reviews at work:
"I saw RaptorSA show up on time for a meeting once, 5 stars. He's a legend"

Was telling my brother the other day how f**Ing retarded online review for anything is, even doctors etc.
It's usually either 1 star or 5 stars 'cause the average normie is utterly incapable of nuance.
I need him to do some google reviews on my business
"Never used their services, but their website says they can do the work" 5 stars. lol

How in 2026 are we still having people IN THE TECH INDUSTRY not know

1. 3rd party seller =/= "Makro"
2. STUPIDLY cheap = at LEAST 105% chance it's a scam

Like question EVERYTHING...

A year ago I was scammed R800 on FB for this 2TB in a 1TB box (1st clue). Then etched on the SSD Samsung incorrectly spelt. Another, label not stuck properly with many other typos/layout etc issues. Opened it up and one chip completely missing. It would show when connected via USB and norminally work but when slotted internally the BIOS would just not see it.
