South Africa wants to cut data prices by 60%

Never going to happen, so just more pie in the sky nonsense from a desperate ANC (Politician)trying to hold onto what little they have left. If there was any truth in this article we would already be hearing the whine from the service providers about how hard it is on them only being allowed to make a few billion in profit each year, followed by the articles about them shutting shop and leaving the country.

launch a tender to investigate prices? thats pretty funny

Just let starlink or any other data provider operate in the country with minimal friction/red tape and watch data prices drop.
This.

They can just allow Starlink and Starlink's new "Starlink for Communities" feature should take care of the rest. Instant internet hotspot infrastructure deployed anywhere and community hosts can even earn revenue. https://starlink.com/community-host

Except Solly Molatsi is a member of the DA.
It doesn't make any difference, though; he is still a politician whose only aim in life is to get re-elected so he doesn't have to find a real job.

Well, this is awkward. That said I am not the greatest fan of the DA either and have been open about my view that the DA are nothing more than a lesser evil, and not the answer to this countries' problems. Still a serious slip on my part.

Wants to, plan to, thinking of, soon to be, implementing is imminent is all the government is capable of when it benefits the general population. It's only implemented quickly when it benefits the cadres and corrupt politicians.
