Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Barely a breath of a N/NW here SP side, but faaak must have been the hottest Sept day I've ever experienced in C.T yesterday. Stiflingly hot, humid and oppressive. Car temp read 35.5C at about 4pm.

G-d help us this summer.
Yesterday was a KAK day.... fukking hot AF, slurped power last night on the prepaid with air conditioners running flat out to get the heat out the house.

G0d help us this summer indeed...

According to Wikipedia you may be right, though the official temperature is recorded at CT airport. Previous record for Sep is 33.1C! (1991–2020). The typical monthly high for Sep is 27C, and the daily mean is 17C, so definitely unusually warm. P.S. The humidity was very low, so that was 'dry' heat.

Ja, very strong winds early this morning here on our side in Kuils River, it's a bit better now.
What do you mean..? You live in an alternate dimension Kuils River..? Cause it's still howling my side, think I just heard a stack of chairs blow over..

The wind direction has changed a bit, from northerly to westerly, which may explain the difference. However the wind has definitely not subsided, and is expected to peak later in the day.

Well it felt muggy as fukc! Remember I'm right next to the ocean FWIW...but at any rate, we all get the drift.

Ridiculously high temp for spring, and it hasn't been a 1 off..barely any rain in CT the last 6 weeks, unusually warm daytime temps...def signs of things to come IMO.

The SAWS does not report any new official records yesterday (Wed 30th), but the extreme highest temperature was pretty hot! See: https://www.weathersa.co.za/assets/img/data/climate/nr_extremes.pdf
Highest Max Temp 38.3 2026-09-30 VIOOLSDRIF

P.S. At the opposite extreme, the lowest daytime temperature in the northern part of the country was a new record of 44 years standing! See: https://www.weathersa.co.za/assets/img/data/climate/nr_records.pdf
Lowest Maximum 15.0 1986-09-28 14.4 2026-09-30 44 LEPHALALE

A moderate intensity cold-front will reach CT early tomorrow (Tues 6th), following today's sunny and mild weather. The amount of rain will not be huge (5-10mm), but there will be a significant drop in temperature, with light snow predicted for the high peaks in the SW-Cape:

The rain was mostly over by 8am, and the sun is coming out, but there is a rather chilly wind from the south. I didn't hear anything last night (wind/rain came from the west?) There are definitely puddles in the grass, and some waterfalls on Table Mt. SAEON Dwarsberg reports some good falls (30mm+).
