Australian cricket tour of South Africa September/October 2026

Why is nobody asking for Breetzke to be involved... has been absolutely tearing up the ODI games but cant even get mentioned.

His FC record isn't bad, considering it is still in its relative infancy. Could be worth a look

We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss Rickleton. He is still new in his test career. For comparison, after 15 test matches, Amla had scored 714 runs at an average of 25, while Kallis was not much better, averaging 31 with just over 1000 runs (this was after 22 tests). We all know how those careers turned out.

Difference where kallis and amla were both very young. So also lacked first class cricket experience. Rickelton is 30.

I would give ricks till end of the series. If he keeps failing Jordan hermann vs Bangladesh.

For Stubbs my man to replace him is lhandre Pretorius.

I’ve never been a fan of Verreynne. Has never passed the eye test imo. The obvious selection would be to make Rickleton keep and bat him at 5 or 6 away from the new ball. My ideal top 7…

1. Markram
2. Pretorius
3. Bedingham
4. Bavuma
5. Brevis
6. Rickleton
7. Mulder

Pretorius doesn't open in red ball cricket.

Been a very disappointing test from a Proteas perspective.

As has so often been the case, the Proteas turn up slightly undercooked for the start of a test series.

Anyway, not sure significant changes in personnel is necessarily the way to go.

It's more of a change of mindset. Players need to appreciate and respect the format, IE test cricket and not T20/ODI...

The art of building an innings seems to be lost on some...

Literally 5 minutes after I called him out he gives his wicket away. Never been good enough apart from a few innings.
