Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra

The call assistant feature is quite useful.

Was in meetings and had a few calls which I palmed off to the assistant.

Perhaps a SLIGHTLY longer span between charges?
I don't know if I just haven't used my phone as much during the day or if the battery really lasts longer, but I was on 52% last night when I went to bed. Which isn't something I see often lol

Buggerol. I updated. Looks the same

loads of new hidden options depending on your phone and if you know where to look for them - and if you have a use for them - examples just in the camera are horizontal lock and my fancam - do a quick lookup on youtube and there are loads of changes you will find - the term buggerol is definitely not applicable

for something to actually be different it doesn't have to visibly look different ;) even if it doesn't look different there could be lots of things that are actually different and lots of things added that just don't instantly jump out

after doing the update also go to the Samsung store and update everything that needs updating in the system apps menu straight away as well - loads of apps are updated - and also update your good lock if you are using it

Haven't noticed any difference if I'm being completely honest.
Having used this for an evening I can say it doesn't look different but the animations to me feel different.

I love the dots that show when a app is using the mic, location or camera. That has made me realize just how many times random apps connect to either.

I also appreciate the combine call history from all apps in the dialer (I know it comes from ios) and super steady mode

I watched a few videos, and most things are not of use to me. A lot of it is on the panel and having more flexibility.

Using goodlock and quickstar you can add a new indicator icon to show your network speed, if though I might give this a go. I am not sure how it will help me, but will see if I leave it on or not.

This is useful, if you click those dots you can see recent access, and which apps are using what on your phone, and then you can further manage permissions for that app – great feature to lock down your phone if you want to.

If you use the native file manager you dont need an additional PDF app, it now supports it natively. I dont use the native file manager though so no difference for me.

If you suffer from motion sickness, there is a setting which adds these dots or patterns on the side of the screen when it detects the phone is being used while in motion. The dots are supposed to help you. I suffer from motion sickness, will see if this helps when i am in an uber and using my phone.

Nothing else stood out for me, cant even remember everything else.

horizontal lock hasn't come to the S24 series - i was wishing it would but it hasn't

Samsung might claim that the SOC is not up to the job - and since i have no idea if it is i will not argue - and i will also not complain since i really wanted it more out of vanity than sanity since i don't really use the camera for video that much

One UI 9.0 is out on my S24U. Has anybody had any issues with battery or performance?

Nope. It's been much of the same really. Nothing I use is different lol

this is a statement made by someone who hasn't got a clue - it just means that nothing you use is different - it in absolutely no way means that nothing has changed because millions of other people will use more things than you do in the phone and it means that you wasted your money buying a phone with functions you don't need (because you don't use them) and you would probably have been better off buying an A24 instead of an S24

The jump from One UI 8 / 8.5 to One UI 9 on your Galaxy S24 Ultra introduces around 12 to 15 notable differences. Instead of a radical visual overhaul, One UI 9 focuses on a refined interface (built on Android 17), enhanced privacy, and new specialized Galaxy AI features. [1, 2]
However, because you are on the S24 Ultra, Samsung has intentionally omitted several new camera features (like 24MP default mode and Super Steady Horizontal Lock) to keep them exclusive to the S25 and S26 Ultra. [1, 2]

1. Redesigned Quick Panel & Layout
    • Customizable Sliders: The brightness, volume, and media player controls are now fully resizable and can be reoriented or independently scaled. [1, 2]
    • Decoupled Tiles: The Dark Mode toggle and Mute button have been unlinked from the brightness slider, allowing you to move or edit them individually. [1, 2]
    • Music Player Animation: The lock screen media player features a fluid wave/waveform animation that dynamically matches your album art. [1, 2]
    • Home Screen Search Toggle: You can now place a permanent search bar on the bottom dock of your home screen, with settings to toggle between a standard Google Search or the local device "Finder" tool. [1, 2]

2. New Galaxy AI & Smart Tools
    • My Fan Cam: A new Gallery AI tool that lets you take an existing video, select a specific human subject, and automatically reframe/track them to save a newly centered copy. [1, 2]
    • Call Brief: Displays relevant context cards, calendar events, and brief overviews right on the screen during your phone calls. [1, 2]
    • Now Brief Customization: The scheduled daily info cards (weather, health, etc.) can now be customized with up to three distinct generative categories. [1, 2]
    • WhatsApp/Meet Log Integration: Third-party VoIP apps like WhatsApp and Google Meet calls now sync natively into your main Phone call log, complete with recent message contexts. [1, 2]

3. Security, Privacy & Diagnostics
    • Blue Location Dot: Whenever an app accesses your GPS location in real time, a bright blue dot appears in the status bar. Tapping it immediately lets you manage that app's exact permissions.
    • Warranty and Care Hub: A dedicated section at the very top of your Settings app allows you to quickly check your device warranty status, access troubleshooting, and run hardware diagnostics.
    • Security Brief / AI Audit: Provides a chronological log tracking what your background AI assistants have accessed, alerting you if apps request precise permissions too frequently. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

4. System Enhancements
    • Motion Assist: An Android 17-native accessibility feature designed to reduce motion sickness/carsickness by displaying subtle visual cue dots on the screen while riding in vehicles.
    • Samsung Notes "Tape": A new redaction tool that allows you to temporarily cover up specific text or images in your notes.
    • Native Network Speed: You can finally display your real-time network speeds directly on the status bar without needing a separate Good Lock extension.

how any of these changes affect you isn't important - they have been made and they exist and are on your phone already so a statement saying that there is no difference is wildly inaccurate. You do not have to use those changes to understand that those changes have actually been made (generally throughout the S24 series because even the lower models mostly have these changes)

You need to calm down a bit. @TofuMofu said nothing he/she/it uses is different. While changes may have occurred in the background or within other apps, for their specific use case nothing has changed.
