ConCourt rules for ANC in candidate lists case

Oh well. I generally welcome the Con Courts rulings. But every now and again it makes some odd rulings. Like "kill the boer, kill the farmer" not being hate speech.

But I suppose that is proof of it's impartiality, when it displeases all sides.
Also - If we are honest, we are all gunning against the ANC. If it was another party we wouldn't be as vested.

I would make the ANC pay for all the extra admin involved in fixing this. The whole point of the deadline was to give the IEC the time to finalise all the ballots and send them out. I'm sure its going to cost a fortune doing things all over.

So much for conservative local youtubers celebrating this like it was some kind of goddamn turning point.
Some motherf**ers will always cling to hope.

The good news is our esteemed citizens get to vote for them again and I get to laugh at their self inflicted demise with moral impunity. Let them eat cake k@k.

How unsurprising that the ANC's court ruled for it.

The court ruled that the IEC’s decision to refuse acceptance of the ANC’s list of the six municipalities is set aside, and the IEC must do all things necessary to include the ANC’s lists on the ballots for the 4 November elections.

The reasons will be handed down later.

Concourt sides with mentally challenged children it would seem. ANC will have to spend money on advisers again next year and have a guy at each desk telling its members to 'push the submit button' - I have heard of some pathetic excuses in my life, but this takes the cake.

"The reasons will be handed down later." I realise that this might well be precedented from a legal pov but please man.... could they not make it so much easier to call this corruption?

It does not take a genius to figure out that everyone outside the ANC is going to use this a "proof" that they did it just to please the ANC. So could they just perhaps have listed the reasons?

That being said... I'm kind of ok with the ruling, the prospective ANC voters in those munis would likely have switched ot EFF / MK anyway and at least we don't have to sit with years worth of court cases etc after the election by the ANC and their moaning about losing the election because of the captured judiciary etc.

Also, "The reasons will be handed down later."

My guess is, that the reason is going to be some human rights related horse**t about how not allowing their candidates would be a violation of citizens to choose, can create an undemocratic political arena.... bla bla bla bla....

Democracy is like a spanner, it only works on one nut size.

No wonder the cowntry is a shytehole now the governing party can't even push a submit button.

This SARS will accept that excuse?

They have to as it seems the current iec argument is all about the definition of the submit button and what is considered as "submitted". So if the ruling is confirmed, then any online form on any government website that allows you to enter information that gets saved like a shadow copy which you can review later before "submitting" with a submit button, has to be considered as [Schrodinger's cat] "submitted". Sars will fight you tooth and nail in the courts in a war of attrition to make you withdraw a legal fight, but ultimately they can't win as the con court has already set a precedent with this ruling, nothing in sars tax law can win against the constitution.
