Fires break out at French schools as students protest nationwide

Decolonisation.

See how their statement is phrased.

Today, the premises of our club were looted on the sidelines of the mobilization on October 17.

No Vitality this didn't happen on the sidelines; it happened within scope.

Ignoring them, it is really sad to see how many small business owners in France are being sieged, assaulted, ambushed, etc. There is one video where a shop owner (I think) is protecting his store, and the protesters are stoning him. Where is the police???

No private security in France, or are they protesting too??? I know that some unions climbed on board, so, sure, I won't be surprised to know that there is political involvement.

I support people supporting their rights all the way, but this is a clear-cut case where their rights trump all others. Lekker equality, neh.

Well, someone started a trend of blanket pardons for violent insurrectionists. And he's the president of a country that seems to be developing similar policies on capital punishment as Afghanistan, so there is that.
I think your brain is fried as the account name has nothing to do with the US.

I am not French, though I didn't understand any context within Macron's speech, to quote the BBC,

Macron said local prefects and mayors would draft measures to protections in place for shops and civic buildings.

For a country that is known to get emotional, they don't have measures in place. This hints at Macron being reactive.

As a non-European, I would have thought the French would have cooperative plans in place with their police and gendarmerie to coordinate public order. Just odd.

I had a quick look now; France needs to grow its reservist pool. I think Macron hopes that this situation will soon come to pass... the political opponents must be riding these winds. Not having measures in place... that is bad, and it is a little too late brainstorm.

What I do know now is, France doesn't have enough police.

I didn't even know this, but Italy's police, special police, and gendarmerie are larger than France's. Though Italy's gendarmerie is a little aged... regardless. Ignoring numbers, Italy seems better equipped at dealing with domestic issues at scale.
