Home Assistant : Q&A, Tips & Tricks, Your Configs

I've thought about the same thing a few times.

In theory they should last a few weeks on a reasonable charge at the very least.
My thoughts as well if I consider it similar to my kindle. Might use a it of power if I have it at like a 1 minute refresh but still.

Yes was playing with it this weekend, told it to copy your dashboard :) . This is what it came up with

what was the prompt, so I can be lazy?

Its done a nice job refactoring my old partially working dashboards, suggesting new cards it.

Also tweaked my pool heating algorithm, sadly - its better than mine. (I have an in-pool and on-roof thermometer)

are you reading/updating the data through the inverter dongle or via usb cable?

Did mine via the dongle (SOLARMAN) - my raspberry pi died a few weeks ago so instead of getting a new one I just moved to this. Transferred license and the backed up data as well

Take a screenshot. The just tell it to copy the style. You need to tell it to use html, CSS and JS otherwise it tries to use the built in cards. Cant remember the exact prompt but something similar to:

Act as an expert Home Assistant frontend developer and UI/UX engineer. Design a custom Dashboard for my Home Assistant using the same style as the screenshot. <screenshot.jpg>. Enable theme Support: Full light and dark mode compatibility. Use clean, modular CSS and vanilla JavaScript

Just be careful if you use the /local folder to stage this its exposed to the Internet. I told it to build it directly into HA. If you prefer to use std layout and cards install the custom button card which is highly customisable.

Out of interest, how are you guys measuring your tank levels?

I currently just use a float sensor, I tried a sonar sensor (multiple) - but found them to be inaccurate, the build up condensation on the sensor, and as it drips off, the sensor goes all over the show.

EDIT:
Unrelated to HA, but related to IoT - has anyone made a portable UV sensor (sunlight) - I want something to accurately measure UVA/UVB that's portable, with a screen. I suppose it could log to HA via Bluetooth.

Tried to find a commercial product, there are one or two available in places like Aus - but not much internationally.

In a situation where I do not want to rely on and trust internet provided UV figures.
