Australian cricket tour of South Africa September/October 2026

County cricket bowled him into the group. He almost 38 and his pace has dropped a lot. 5+ Kph slower then Wiaan Mulder. I don't rate 38 year old version Dane.

Interesting, I just remember the last time he played for SA he was quite effective.

You can blame the weather and the period it was scheduled over... or apathy towards test cricket.

Fortunately a small crowd at St George's still produces a nice atmosphere.
A Tuesday kick off was one of the dumbest calls CSA has ever made and that's saying a lot... Incredulous how intent on shooting themselves in the foot they are... anyway, I'm sure they have their reasons, some may even be valid...

I think they just want to fit as much cricket as they can into the window. We don’t get 2 or 3 month tours anymore.

Yeah, we've won 2 series in India which should matter because of how hard it is to do (they do) but I don't feel much for them. I guess the Aussies have always been the benchmark since re-admission.

I'd throw that session of Amla and Smith smashing it to all parts at the Waca 2012 in there also...200 runs in the session when the game was still in the balance to set up the series win.
Wasn't that ab and hash? Believe that happened after faf and ab had rolled their bowlers into the turf by saving the previous test in adelaide.

That particular session was Smith and Amla...AB came in the next day and made a hundred.

Clarke got almost 600 runs that series (3 matches) and was on the losing side :D

How is that any different from some in our top order? And can they bowl?

If you are going to go with an all-rounder you at least want his bowling to be attacking and look like taking a wicket, I haven't felt that at test level. You feel differently?

So IMO he is neither a quality batter or bowler. So just include him because he is an all-rounder rather than a wicket taker.

Though if I had to choose between Gerald and Bosch, I would choose Bosch.

Bosch can get up to 150 and is very threatening on his day. Same as all bowlers - they have good days and bad days. Same as all batsmen too. The point is he adds the option. When our top order is going for royal ducks, what do they do for the rest of the innings? When Nortje gets injured, what does he do for the rest of the innings, and who fills the gap? That's where he comes in. You need 20 wickets to win so you need as many bowling options as possible. What we don't need is a specialist batsman making two single-digit scores...

PROTEAS MEN’S SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR 3RD DAFABET TEST AGAINST AUSTRALIA
Saturday, 24 October 2026

CAPE TOWN: The South Africa Men’s selection panel has today named the squad for the third Dafabet Test against Australia, which gets underway on Tuesday, 27 October at YesPlay Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

Fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the Test due to a mild groin injury.

He sustained the injury while bowling during the first innings of the second Dafabet Test in Gqeberha on Wednesday. Subsequent scans on Thursday revealed the extent of the injury.

Proteas Men’s Squad - 3rd Dafabet Test against Australia
Temba Bavuma (captain, DP World Lions), Marques Ackerman (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), David Bedingham (YesPlay Cobras), Corbin Bosch (Momentum Multiply Titans), Matthew Breetzke (Dafabet Warriors), Gerald Coetzee (DP World Lions), Simon Harmer (Momentum Multiply Titans), Marco Jansen (Momentum Multiply Titans), Keshav Maharaj (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Aiden Markram (Momentum Multiply Titans), Wiaan Mulder (DP World Lions), Senuran Muthusamy (Dafabet Warriors), Dane Paterson (YesPlay Cobras), Kagiso Rabada (DP World Lions), Ryan Rickelton (DP World Lions), and Kyle Verreynne (YesPlay Cobras).

Excited for the final test.

With KG back things are looking up and hopefully some of our batters can actually get some runs.

I think we forget that the Aussies have one of the best 4-man bowling attacks in world cricket, if not the best. Most of their bowlers are in the Top 10. But still we need our batters to score, or we will looking for another hero to save the day.

Team announcement?
Either at temba's presser later today or toss.

Aus team news maddinson and harper send home to play sheffield shield cricket. Renshaw will open. Cam greene has recovered from his balls injury but will only bat. Steve Smith is a doudt still not fully recovered from his neck issue.
