good day i have come across a problem with Ipad 9 with IOS 27 if you let the battery go totally flat you can battle to get the battery charging again. it seems to be a bug with IOS27 that once the battery is totally flat if you plug in a charger the flat battery sign will come up for a few second then switch of and the battery will not charge my wife's ipad did this and it took me about three day constantly on charge for it to eventually come on and start charging on Apple community I found several posts about this bug so please do not let you ipad go totally flat on IOS 27.

It has always taken quite long for iPads to come back on when fully dead.

Not 3 days long, which I’m sure is a massive internet exaggeration but still much longer than expected.

We have around 150 9th gens and this update is causing havoc. Two devices have been bricked (confirmed by iStore). A few have literally taken days to recharge. This is after the indexing etc has taken place.
I see 27.2 has been released but don't see any fix for this.
Problem is that we have exams looming.

Same issue here but I have a solution that worked.

What I tried:
  • Charging for 5 days untouched with 20W charger - still has red low battery icon with no charging icon which means it's picking up its plugged in.
  • Charging with 67W charger - didn't work.
  • Quickly plugging in and out cable from charging port.
What worked:
  1. Download 3uTools to flash the iPad. 3uTools – All-in-One iOS Device Management & Flash Tool
  2. Install and launch software and install Apple drivers.
  3. Connect the dead iPad to the laptop with lightning cable.
  4. Enter DFU Mode on the 9th Gen (instructions also on 3uTools) Make sure to hold home first for a second then hold power button.
  5. Once entered DFU Mode the software will pick it up
  6. Click Smart Flash
  7. Download iOS 27.2
  8. Once downloaded select "Erase" on the right and also "Fix Battery Health"
  9. Click start flashing
  10. iPad will begin flashing, follow onscreen instructions once battery health is fixed
  11. If the battery dies again after fixing battery health enter DFU Mode again and continue flashing
  12. iPad will continue flashing, keep it plugged in until complete and the iPad has finished loading the OS.
  13. Now you can plug it into a normal charger while you set it up and it will charge.
