MTN Airfibre

I paid and applied for this airfibre on the 16th of August but to this day they still haven't installed it. I asked MTN why this is happening and they say that there are stock delays.

Funny how my friend applied a week after me and his got installed the beginning of this month. I tried reaching out to Supersonic in all ways but it's been radio silence from them.

It's comical I'm paying for something nonexistant and they'll likely take money out of my bank on the 16th.

I assume you eventually got sorted ?

Also got my AirFibre installed today. For the life of me, I could not get my Cudy router working with the PPPoE it works fine when I dial it from my laptop. Kak, weird problem

We got this yesterday (80|25) and it's actually quite terrible for us. It's less stable than my Fixed LTE connection. In the day It's mostly around 10-20mbit with random ping spikes exceeding 150ms and a few timeouts per minute is pretty common. Sometimes the next speed test will randomly be 30-40mbit. 2am it got way more stable and I managed to get 70mbit. Seems it's got the same congestion issues like LTE/5G.

Some speed tests

Check the interfaces tab. Do you have any FCS Errors? You can get these if the ethernet cable is not seated/badly crimped at the PoE injector...

Quite a distance from the tower but the tarana link seems fine so it does look like the tower backhaul.

The tower is basically in your back yard

I have 2 towers close to me. The tree is an MTN owned site and the other one Vodacom but also shared by MTN, Telkom and Rain.

Interestingly enough neither has MTN 5G it's only 4G coverage here so the tower doesn't need to have 5G to have the AirFibre Tarana nodes installed. The MTN guys just told me MTN only installs it on sites they own not shared sites so the tower behind me that is really close will never get it.
