The problem I have is that renewing my visa is very costly, and I don't think many will be able to foot that bill a 2nd time with such short notice.
Also, it raises so many questions, if I'm a high earner, and my partner is not a high earner - do we now have different timelines to ILR... and what about my kids, do they follow my path or her path?
And then when I become british citizen, does her visa have to change? (and again the kids)
I'll be watching this very closely as it could get really messy and complicated.
All valid questions.
Are you here on skilled worker visas?
I’m on a family visa and I believe they’ll be exempt from any changes.
Ancestral visa, which I believe will be subject to the new rules.
Ive consulted with all the big names in the immigration space. Ive been told its highly likely new rules will be for new visas only.
If not the case it will most certainly be challenged in court
Going to be interesting to see what these new rules are.
Mahmood expected to announce changes to rules around indefinite leave to remain https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm62yxxd992eo
Permanent residence, or indefinite leave to remain, gives a person the right to live, work and study in the UK for as long as they like and apply for benefits if they are eligible.
