Hi all.

I'm trying to figure out why every Thursday my router can't connect to the isp. But the next day it is back on again. This has been happening for nearly 2 months. I have done everything the isp has suggested so far.

I tried connecting directly to the ont from the laptop and it times out as well.

Tonight they are adamant that my router is faulty, but tomorrow it work again till next week Thursday.

I am happy to go out and get a new router but if that is the problem surely connecting from the laptop would work the?

Any advice is appreciated.

I will check the fiber level daily.
then ping to the first place.
From your house , your single fiber runs to a splitter box. find out if other people in your area have the same problem.
If the fault is in fact by you, check the fiber for kinks, check your power supply and rev your bike.

Wan connects and then disconnects straight away. But will work again from tomorrow.

Isp is adamant it's the router 🙄

No issues in the area. No complaints from anyone on community groups. Nobody else in the complex has an issue. Isp confirms no issues with the line and no issues on their side.

Edit: Apparently openserve were sent to test, but because it was working closed the ticket.

They always blame the router, it's typical of them...
I am considering taking my issue with my ISP to court next year, am sick of them blaming my router
Isnt that a little drastic? I surely if your experience is that poor, it would make more sense to rather just cancel your contract with them, and get another service provider.

Run pingplotter or similar starting from a Wednesday to a Friday.

Export it and show that to them.

Hi @Bikerbob. I have the same issue since moving onto a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, but looking at when your issues started the new router might have been coincidental. My fibre connection is Afrihost on Frogfoot. Who is your ISP. My stability for the Thursday issue improved when they switched me over from DHCP to PPPoE (in an attempt to get me out behind the CGNAT). That did not work for the CGNAT, but I've just kept the PPPoE connection when I realised it solved the Thursday issue.

What worked to fix it fast was moving my auth from DHCP to PPPoE for a minute and then back. Customer support obviously doesn't understand the issue. I'm not even bothering reporting it anymore.

Hi.
Kindly drop me a DM with your account details so I can check.

Sadly it is Mweb....

I will wait and see if it it drops again on Thursday. When it drops it refuses to connect for approximately 24hrs. If it does it again then I will attempt the process of moving.

Thanks all for the help.
