iPhone 5c Message notifications not working

Hi Guys I have the iPhone 5c, and now after the last IOS 8.1.3 update, my message icon, does not show a notification (usually a number like 1 or 2 shows up in a bubble around the icon, denoting the number of unread messages). Does anyone have the same problem, or the solution?
