iPhone 5c Message notifications not working

Hi Guys
I have the iPhone 5c, and now after the last IOS 8.1.3 update, my message icon, does not show a notification (usually a number like 1 or 2 shows up in a bubble around the icon, denoting the number of unread messages).
Does anyone have the same problem, or the solution?

iOS 8.2 is the latest one.
Maybe try updating before you go chasing after a solution.

Any chance you switched off "Badges" under you notifications settings?

I've been through that...in fact i've been on the net reading through the different forums....My phone is busy updating...that should do the trick....hopefully

Problem Solved: Update did the trick....message notifications works again.
Leaves me concerned about staying up to date with IOS.
Also have no space left with all this regular updates demands.
