    Thinkpad users: upgrade the kernel to 2.6.35 to quieten the fan

    the fan noise was a bug in older kernel (before 2.6.35) that does not honor the acpi settings for thinkpads--the new kernel 2.6.35 works like a charm in lucid--the fan is now completely silent, as it should be (Windows 7 settings), and machine runs cool (tempt) all the time.
