Windows 7 update issues solved

I reinstalled Windows 7. A few updates came through and after that nothing. I searched the web and read all the stories about new location for update server and dead MS links and tried all the fixes, but other than a screen showing 'Checking for updates...' nothing happened. I found the fix...
