Hi All,

A friend of mine wants to publish a yearbook for their school and include a memory stick with a collection of photos, as well as a digital edition of the yearbook with each hardcopy magazine.

Problem is that the budget is not big and these days 4GB memory sticks seem to be the norm. We've calculated that a 1/2GB stick will suffice happily.

So my question... Does anyone know where one can get cheap 1/2GB memory sticks? Even if its a company thats wanting to get rid of old stock cheaply. Collection can be arranged from JHB/DBN...

Oh ja, we need about 150 of them :D

Looking at online stores, the cheapest flash disk goes for R50 (4GB). There are also some 8GB drives on special on Takealot for R50.

Seems 1GB and 2GB are discontinued.

I did find some 512MB drives but they are also around the R50 mark.

What I suspected. Esquire are selling 4GB at around R45

I guess it depends what you want to spend - R2 vs R50

If you want USB your best bet might be ebay but then you don't really know what you are going to get, and with the postal issues you might never get it.

You can try the branding places which could have those size. Google 'branded usb" or "corporate gifts usb".

Why don't you just stick the photos and the digital edition online?

Make the kids at the school pay for the memory sticks. Pretty much how my kids' school rolls - except that we'd pay more than the actual cost - service delivery fees and imaginary handling costs added.

We could do, but its time consuming to cut each one. Then there's the idea of people wanting the DVD to be printed...

Buy 150 light-scribe DVDs

Team up, plug in like three light-scribe Roms.
Could maybe then do 3 at once.

Or you could add the memory stick option as a premium, that way you'll have to cut less DVDs
That way everyone is happy.

Even have the option of just the physical yearbook.

Thanks all for the info.

If anyone knows or hears of any info thatm might help, please PM me :D.
I might just suggest using their computer lab, making an ISO of the original, and churn out 25 disks at once.
