Hey

Would this be possible, got a PC down stairs and one up stairs...

Need internet at both, if I were to buy a iburst modem and use the same account as on the modem below would it still work?

Would both be able to connect simultaneously?

Yes, if you have two iBurst modems you can link them to one account and use them simultaneously...

Should be possible, although I can think that the technical staff at iburst will give you a hard time.

AFAIK the iburst account is bound to a specific router, and cannot be used on another router unless arranged with iburst.

If this falls through, then you'll have to share the modem between two PC's.

You can also point out to iburst that Axxess allows the sharing of their prepaid accounts, so there is no need for iburst to be stingy.

Would a power over ethernet device not work?

It is possible but you will have to resort to threatening them and other forms of leverage and then be prepared to be double-debited for non existent shyte.

This is factually incorrect. Both of mine work with, or without the router on either end! There never was the need to bind to a specific router!

I might be missing the point here completely, but instead of running two modems, why not use one modem connected to a wireless router and have a wireless network linking both pc's to the internet?

Because many people don't want routers. If a customer wants or insists on a 2nd modem then so be it, he after all pays for my time.

They think it's an unecessary expense and then want to cry big tears when I tell them I have to format c: to get rid of infection upon infection upon infection of spyware and malware. They also want to blame me when their bank accounts get cleaned out and bleat when people backdoor their PC's, and they also want to cry when p2p doesn't work at all.

Not having a router is like having sex without a condom. Period!

LOL, so true - but still they don't take good advice. I charge R 1.5 K to reinstall a Win based PC (full - with user settings restored) This makes them think twice, but still not worth the time I have to spend to restore it to it's original functioning...

K I know this thread is a over a year old but it's easier than making a whole new thread on the same topic :p And since this 1 never had a conclusion it doesn't help all the much.

Basically I'd just like to know if this does work and how much hassle it is to set up with iburst?

Thanx in advance
S1ght :)

OK .. all the *** answers didnt help ...

Here, you can connect 2 iBurst modems to one account, and they can connect simultaneously! I'm doing it so it does work. You just need to have them linked to the one account. But dont waste your money if its within a wireless network range (upstairs downstairs). Plug one modem into the wan port of a Lynksys (I use 2 different routers/ap's) then you can connect wired or wireless to the router from as many PCs as you want.

Remember iBurst modem = +R2k
Wireless AP/Router = R700
Save at lease R1.3k

PM me for help or other questions

Thanx, just what I was looking for. Already have a wireless router at home, this is for a completely different house so gonna need 2 modems.

Hi all

Two modems on one account works. Both can connect at same time.

hi there

Please get yourself a second modem and have it assigned to your account.

Remember - if you are purchasing a second hand modem please get a clearance from our accounts department first.
