I got a sms saying I am getting 1 gig from 2100 to 2200 for free saturday only

I don't know but that seems as if MTN just wants people to miss on the data. A 1 hour window is just too short people are busy with other things right now

It was fast in the beginning, then slow the last half hour. But as you say, control you as to plan that time in front of a internet device.

I got it twice on the same sim in the last 7 days. Just a pity the network is so useless that you would be lucky to download 100mb in that hour, but still better then nothing I suppose
