1 Mb/s

Coverage is dependent on topology, e.g. Bloem is covered with a couple of BTS's.

Current ISP average is 750 kb/s.

You was mentioning about tower in Primrose, is it me or it's gone? Can't find on your coverage map, but it was there...

Gaming? Serious? My house test says that it is fail. If anyone touches iBurst connection on same shared network, it lags and gaming becomes useless. And if I'm alone on network, it still lags and spikes a lot, maybe not during night when I'm supposed to sleep.

Before they moved the craigavon tower, I was getting better and more consistant pings on iBurst than 3G.

Then they moved the tower.

How do you know which direction to point the flat panel antenna?

Using a coverage map, you may guess easily which direction to point. Use signal metering soft for fine tuning or seek better results elsewhere.

iBurst is not without its flaws, but i refuse to believe that value can so generously be awarded to Telkom.

If you want to get 1Mb/s with Telkom, you need to buy their fastest ADSL line (up to 4meg) which costs R413 per month. This cost alone almost covers my 5gb package with iBurst. On top of that you need line rental (R100ish?) and data from an ISP (say R100 as well). So Im looking at over R600 to get over 1mb/s on ADSL.

Unless I'm prepared to spend that, then iBurst provides better value to me (ie less money spent, and double the speed of the next-best telkom speed f 512k).

The products iBurst offer are not bad - its the support and reliability that would tend to kill off customers faster than anything else. And its here where iBurst just dont seem to get it. You cant fix that by adding some more products to your mix, you actually need to work on customer service and reliability (your key weaknesses). At least recently things tend to have become a bit more reliable than i remember them to be a year or so ago. And while your forum presence is good, the monkeys on the phone really need to get jacked up! My 2 cents.

We are providing better value on capped services including a better rollover (currently up to a maximum of 3 x the base allocation which will also be increased going forward) A capped service with a good rollover deal will become a better price option. What rollover do the other guys have?

They don't really need rollover, since their BW costs way less than Ibursts'.

I am fairly happy with the speed and enev though it's not the best, the latencies aren't that bad as well for gaming, since my only alternative is 3G. I just want cheaper BW. I've gone through almost 9gigs this month and mostly spent on gaming. I don't dare downloading updates or anything else, as it is getting just to expensive...

I don't understand your argument here at all. You are paying R500+ already for your Iburst + 5GB, so for R100 more, you can get 4x the speed and way better latencies and cheaper topups...

okay my buddie is on mweb uncapped 384Kbps and he pays about the same as me (wireless 5) now he is uncapped but got an email stating stating he is close to his 60Gb limit (not realy uncaped if you ask me) and i have already hit 60Gb on my after hours usage and no one has botherd me (yet - dont try anything Ronald :D )

I hear what you say, but I don't believe the uncapped 128k for iburst will be sufficient for blops, so no use getting it.

The only problem you'll have is if you try and klap you bandwidth with 2 modems during day time hours. The system then automatically does a hardcap when you reach your theoretical use limit on 1 modem.

so whats the theoretical limit for 1 modem?

26 GB on 64 kb/s and 52 GB on 128 kb/s

However, the metering for the above only occurs from 8am to Midnight (daylight hours)

Any bandwidth used between Midnight and 8am does not count. If you blow the daytime limit you'll also loose the nightime access and topups are the only method to continue.

Sorry, it is not uncapped with hard-cap limit.
