1 Mbps ADSL line sync speed ?

Can anyone with a 1 Mbps ADSL tell me what the physical line sync speed (clocking) is up & down?

On my 512K ADSL its 640K downstream & 384K upstream.

Do we get such a thing in South Africa? I thought that we only got up to 512K ADSL?
