Does this also count for those 'premicell' numbers etc? In that case I'll gladly listen to a telesales person, then tell them to please repeat that after they're done lol.

Nice!
One thing we keep forgetting. MTN and Voda are the Telkoms of the mobile world. Supporting 8ta might not be so bad. Unless it makes Telkom lazy.

how is 8ta making money out of this?interconnect fees are paid per call not per minute

It's really smart actually. I think they have a big problem with customers who swop between sim cards, so people don't stay on the network. With this offer they stay on 8ta and keep the sim in phone because if they miss their calls on 8ta number, then they don't get free minutes. Really tempted to support the small guys. Vodacom needs a wake-up call.

I have lots of free weekender minutes.

So does that mean if a buy a 8ta prepaid sim and put it in another phone I can phone that number converting my off peak free minutes to a third peak minutes?

Is there a real time service to check your free balance?

The balance is updated continuously. If you do a *188# balance enquiry, you get an sms telling you how much free time you have remaining, and how much has been accumulated for the next month.

Yeah, been getting on average 30 - 60 minutes per month for the last 3 months :)

Genius! I must try that!

I think its the 1st million people get the promo permanently on their number. After the 1st million you get the promo but 8ta can stop it for you at any time. That what I undertstood. Anyways its a awesome promo cause its Anytime minutes and to any network. So its pretty decent.

You go boy, thinking along the right lines, we were getting ripped in SA, I hope every one wisens up and leaves now that real competition is in town, I hate abusive monoplies, I believe it does not give the middle man a chance, hence VC krappy service with high costs. I already ported and doing the same with all my family members & freinds. Gone are the days of having 3G contracts @ R389 for 1 GIG over 24months, my bill used to come to R 900 on average every month with VC on this contract with no recourse if I felt it was not possible, they were just happy to bill.

You should see their add with the 2 domestics. The first one works and works. The second one gets a call, then talks and talks. When the call ends, the first one asks, who it was. "Wrong number" says the second one (and I guess she was more productive than the first one).
