Hi

I have been looking at axxess and their dsl offers and was reading in the terms and conditions page and noticed that only 1 user account can login at a time.
I have two computers connected through an ethernet router.
Does the axxess regulation mean that only one of the computers connected to the router can access the internet at a time??

Thanks

Phone them and ask them.
Failing that - you'll probablee have to run the router in bridge mode and use internet connection sharing to enable the other computer to connect. But - get word from the horses mouth, and tell us about it.

I think it means that only one concurrent connection can be made, ie one router can connect and provide access to the entire network its hooked up to, but you can not connect at a diffrent site, ie) at a friends house / work at the same time the connection at ur home is active, but obviously if you disconnected at home it would be possible to say connect at work... So they are stopping you from getting one account for home and work and leaving them both connected all the time, like is possible with accouts from some other service provider's

Is it even possible for them to limit a router from providing a connection to the entire network? Seeing as the ADSL router's can be seen as a normal router connected to an ADSL modem, all packed into one case, so wouldn't they 'see' the modem in router mode and bridge mode as the same thing, 'an ADSL modem'??

Bottom line - "only 1 user account can login at a time" = The Authentification server is set to check if you're already logged on, and then won't allow another logon. So - wherever you put the Login + Password (Modem or Router or PC), there can be only 1.

Like it said on any of there 'More Info' links on there website:

If you need more than one pc to access the internet then use your ADSL modem/router to do the authentication.
You need to setup your computers to use your ADSL modem/router as their default gateway.

They insist one account per line. If you config the router correctly you can connect as many PC's as you like...
