So might telephone went down last Sunday, completely out of the blue. Logged a fault with Telkom, and absolutely nothing has happened.

Today, after wasting 20 minutes of cellphone airtime(because I have no fixed line that I can phone from)I finally buckled and bought some 3g data because I actually kinda need to do some work. Shocker right? People use the internet for work?! No ways...

Thanks Telkom. That's pretty scummy, make me pay for line, break it somehow, and then make me pay for mobile data which is completely overpriced. You are awesome. Going from like 17c per GIGAbyte, to 17c per MEGAbyte.

You have no landlines at work to phone them from? No friends with landlines? No local telkom shops? No public phones in your area?

When you find a landline you are welcome to firstly follow up on your reference number (general fault/stolen landlines) and then get in touch with their account department. The accounts department will then pro-rate your services for the time you were without service. No scum involved.

Yes I did all of those things you mentioned... Hence why after a week I'm pretty frustrated?

Also, such a lovely sarcastic tone is really appreciated. Just because you are a "Super Grandmaster" doesn't give you the right to be a ****.

My line has been down for three weeks now. I phone them every few days to enquire but the last two weeks the standard response has been that my call has been escalated and it is taking so long because of the rain. Good luck.

I fail to see the sarcasm in my tone. You did not mention anywhere that you "did all of those things" in the first place, so I do not see anything wrong with my advice in my first response. Telkom did not make you pay for the line or the additional data you chose to buy. Did they not give you a reason for what is going on?

I am also interested in if this is a home line or a business line?

That is how I go about it too. Works like a charm in normal circumstances. Unfortunately with the rain and the damage done by it the load on telkom is crazily high so one cannot expect the "normal" turnaround time from them.

And this is probably where you can forget about anyone else trying to help you.

Seems pretty damn sarcastic to me. It also insinuates that I have tried nothing. Sure I didn't say that I had done all those things, but I also didn't say that I hadn't. I didn't realise I had to write down exactly what I have done or have not done. I ate lunch today.

Calling out someone for being rude to me means I am a bad person? I honestly did not know that.

I did not insinuate anything. I assumed you tried nothing (that you did not explicitly mention), there is a difference. The more you share about the situation the more advice people can provide that would be relevant to your specific problem. Having or not having lunch today has no relation to the problem at hand unfortunately.

Haha I don't see any sarcasm in what he said, it was purely him asking a questions so he could see what you have already tried so he can offer you alternative advice, but you do seem like someone where you think the whole world is against you with the way you responded, and some advice for future threads you may start, this is myBB, if you can't handle sarcasm or funny remarks then you are at the wrong place and you probably better of with google as your friend, where no one can talk back to you.

10 days today... Next escalation is probably to heaven...

My line problems eventually got resolved almost a month later.
