1 X PC , 2 screens showing different information

My boss asked to to research if I can achieve this.He wants to connect 2 monitors to his laptop/PC and each screen must show different stuff.For example he wants to open a xls file and it will show on one screen and the other will show maybe an accouting program.Can this be done. ?

Ummmm, you'd just need the 2 screens. A normal dual LCD/CRT setup would achieve that..

Just need video card with dual monitor output/connections.
Not so sure on the laptop front though. Most laptops I've had to use just duplicate the laptop screen on the external monitor.

Na its easy...

Most laptops can do this, you usually just press the dual monitor function key (Fn + F8 on my asus) a second time and it changes the mode from clone to dualview. That will extend your desktop onto the other monitor and allow you to open programs there.

If it doesn't do it automatically then you will just have to right click on the desktop, goto properties, then the settings tab, click advanced. Then click on your screen card driver tab. From there it all depends on which card you have... but play around there, you'll find the settings...

Cool. I've never had the need for doing it though. I usually run away from any laptop I get near as they seem to be work inducing device (i.e. management owned).
